Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora)
A signature woodland tree of the Queanbeyan region. Yellow Box has yellowish-brown flaky bark on the trunk with smoother branches above. Where mature Yellow Box forms part of the region's protected grassy woodland, work on it can trigger state or federal environmental rules on top of council requirements.
Blakely's Red Gum (Eucalyptus blakelyi)
Often grows alongside Yellow Box across the region's grassy woodland. Like many mature eucalypts, Blakely's Red Gum can shed large limbs, particularly in hot or dry conditions. If one leans over your house or driveway, book an inspection before the next storm.
Brittle Gum (Eucalyptus mannifera)
A smooth-barked gum common across Queanbeyan gardens and streets. The name reflects the brittle nature of the wood, which means dead limbs need clearing before they become a hazard. One of our regular call-outs.
Radiata Pine (Pinus radiata)
Planted as windbreaks and screens decades ago, radiata pines now tower over many Queanbeyan properties. At full size they become top-heavy and prone to failure in strong winds. Removal is often the safest option once they reach maturity.
